RONALDSON ISSUES URGENT CALL FOR

CLARIFICATION OF RUDD’S FOREIGN POLICY POSITION

Liberal Senator for Victoria, Michael Ronaldson has today issued an urgent call for the new Leader of the Opposition to clarify his position and the position of the Labor Party on Israel’s measures for self-protection.

In his maiden speech Senator Ronaldson decried the then Labor Foreign Affairs spokesman’s position saying:
“On the UN vote condemning the security fence that Israel so desperately needs to protect itself from the global scourge of suicide bombers, Kevin Rudd, federal Labor shadow foreign affairs minister, said:

‘A more appropriate course of action would have been for Australia to have abstained on this particular resolution.’”

“There is no room for equivocation on this important issue” Senator Ronaldson said.

“Mr Rudd now aspires to be an alternative Prime Minister yet his policy positions continue to deny what is every nation’s undeniable right.”

“Every nation must be free to take the necessary measures to defend itself and its citizens from external threats.”

“I call on Mr Rudd to urgently clarify his position on this issue.”
