Without exception, appeasement, self-deprecation and preemptive concessions to terrorists have inevitably served to embolden them. Israel's experience has demonstrated that our enemies are restrained when they perceive us as being resolute, and conversely they become more violent when they sense that we are losing our resolve.

Sadly, Clive S Berger trots out the classic Marxist explanation for Arab aggression. While the Marxist analysis of social conflict has relevance for many rational Western societies, it is completely inappropriate for religion crazed Mohammedan societies. People who are proud to sacrifice their children, their independence and well being simply to dominate and humiliate the Jew, who are prepared to put their self determination on hold to deny self determination to another group, are not driven by economic considerations. As long as we delude ourselves with notions that the Mohammedans are just like us, we will fail to come to terms with the founding ideologies of Islam: dominance, supremacy and aggression. And woe betide the Muslim who opposes the jihadists or does not support them.

.;;A viable two state solution will only exist if the Palestinians are guided towards prosperity''...THAT WOULD BE TRUE IN THE CASDE OF ANY OTHER PEOPLE UNFORTUNALELTY IN THE CASE OF THE PALESTINIANS THEY ONLY KNOW FANATISCM, VIOLENCE LIKE THEIR Muslim BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE Muslim AND ARAB WORLD..

It is self-evident that it is the misery of the Palestinian situation that provides fertile recruiting ground for Palestinian fanatics. A viable two state solution will only exist if the Palestinians are guided towards prosperity.

Isi Leibler is correct. When bombs hit the homes of Olmert and Company, they will finally understand the danger. Olmert is a traitor to Israel (supplying aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war). Olmert should be thrown out of office and arrested. The Arabs don't have to win an outright physical war - the Jews will defeat themselves.

There must be a way to get rid of this stupid government, but what is it ?

An excellent article indeed, but it reads as a rather disturbing one if one is interested in the plight of Israel. May I suggest that unless one looks at the situation in Israel thru a Biblical lens, then "all" looks hopeless and lost. However if one takes the time and effort to view these current circumstances thru the "Biblical lens" then one sees the very plan of HaShem unfolding. Take heart dear ones not only will Israel survive, but she will prosper under the hand of Messiah. Will we see it in our life time? not sure but it will happen regardless what Olmert, Rice and the Islamists do.

Isi's detailing of the Israeli government's suicidal and self abasing stance needs to be read in conjunction with Caroline Glick's article "The triumph of legal defeatism" and Reuven Koret's "Open letter to Secretary Rice". Glick's article details how "lawyerism", acting by the hypocrite's book of power hungry post-Zionistic judges prevent valid self defence. Korets points to USA segregation practises at Annapolis - treating Israelis as the "niggers", the way that the Arabs regard them - and false equivalences, makes the "peace process" unrealistic. All told, the situation in Israel is dismal; the MKs and the judiciary are betraying all Jews, especially those in Israel. The foreign funded peaceniks are undermining Israel and all the EU cares about is oil, PC and appeasing its jihadists. The Israeli electorate must find politicians who care about their country, who are game enough to bring the courts under control and who will take the country to win the war which will surely come, at the time of their choosing, not that if their enemy's.

Isi Leibler in his excellent article paints a gloomy picture but whats the answer?

I couldn't agree more, Mary. I don't even come close to comprehending what game the Israeli govt is playing. Their strategies/lack thereof seem devoid of intelligence or comprehension of what's at stake!
