FROM ALEX STRAUCH: 

I am writing to sincerely apologise for my actions and words on a recent web post.

Firstly I would like to state that my words were mine and only mine. They are and were in no way the belief of any other member of my cricket club, the club itself or my family. What I wrote on the site is totally unacceptable and I am not very proud of it.

I can see how terribly offensive and stupid what I wrote was, and that it was said without fully thinking through the full ramifications and effects of those words. That is not me as a person and I can't explain how terrible I feel for saying them. On the instructions I have received after speaking to various members of the Jewish community, I will now visit the Holocaust Museum so I can further understand how my words upset people.

My stupidity has hurt a lot of people and I can never apologise enough for doing so. I can assure you I have nothing against the Jewish religion or those who practice it and this comment is the first and last I will ever make in regards to it.

I also realise how I have damaged my reputation and that of the people around me by my actions.

I know now that my reputation will be forever tainted and the remorse I am feeling will be a constant reminder of that.
